This installation explores how information is altered, retained, and eroded through the continuous interaction between water and sand. As drops fall onto the sand, they leave traces while gradually transforming its structure. This physical process is translated into sound, which progressively shifts, fragments, and distorts as the sand changes. Through the synesthetic translation between the visual and audio senses, the work attempts to transform information erosion into a process that can be physically perceived and experienced.

As drops from the upper funnel fall onto the sand cube, they first dripping onto the conductive plastic sheet, which sticks a contact microphone behind to receive the little vibration signal. And then leave traces onto the sand like a well while gradually transforming its structure. The sand cube gradually becomes damp from the water drops, and begins to collapse from the bottom, as time past the cracks appear at where the water drops, and eventually the whole structure turns into the mud. This physical process is translated into sound through the contact microphone. From start the sound is nature and clear and progressively shifts, fragments, and granular as the sand changes. As the water drop is not triggered the sound in real time, while I divided the sound changes into 5 status, when the amount of drops reach the value of each status, it will trigger different sound.

Through the synesthetic translation between the visual and auditory senses, the work attempts to transform information erosion into a process that can be physically perceived and experienced.
